No "Buying Back In" Sunday—Here’s Why
The World Euchre Championship continues to grow, and we’re thrilled to see more players than ever competing for the title. While we’re committed to expanding the tournament, we also want to ensure it remains fair, well-organized, and enjoyable for everyone.
This year, our Doubles Tournament—the most popular event of the weekend—features two preliminary rounds: one on Saturday and one on Sunday. The top 50% of players from each preliminary round will advance to the finals on Sunday.
Originally, we announced that players who did not qualify on Saturday could "buy back in" on Sunday, provided there were open seats. This is common in poker and other card tournaments. However, we’ve since made the decision to remove the buy-back option for two key reasons:
1️⃣ Fairness: Allowing players a second chance to qualify could give some an unfair advantage, and we want to keep the competition as even as possible. Everyone should have the same opportunity to advance.
2️⃣ Limited Availability: With the tournament growing in popularity, it’s highly likely that Sunday’s preliminary round will be completely sold out. That means there wouldn’t be seats available for a buy-back option anyway, making the discussion a moot point.
By the time you read this, the tournament will likely already be full—or very close to it. We appreciate everyone’s enthusiasm and support as we continue to build the World Euchre Championship into the premier Euchre event in the world.
See you in May, and may the cards be ever in your favor!
